All quiet on the Eastern Front? - News from Russia

As it is one of my particular interest, I will try to summarize and give brief information about the political situation in Russia every now and then.

Indeed there are new developments which are rather unpleasant:

1. As it is already becoming an every year attraction, the Russian Gazprom has again threatened Belarus and especially the Ukraine to stop natural gas exports. Official Reason as announced by the Russian Ministry is an open bill which the Ukraine has apparently not yet paid.
The unofficial reason however might be aswell the rather harsh critic by the Ukrainian Republic regarding the Russian aggression in Georgia this year.

2. The Russian Constitution goes Belorussian : The Duma and the Russian Senate have adopted new election laws which extend the legislative period of the President from 4 to 6 years and the parliamentary legislative period from 4 to 5 years. Hence, the same measures were taken by the Belorussian regime in 2006.

3. Dmitri Medvedev, Russian President formerly C.E.O of Rosneft and Gazprom (a.k.a the Putin's little marionette) announced that the Russian Armed Forces will station Short-Range-Ballistic Missles in the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad which is bordered by Lithuania and Poland. Dark memories remain of the Cuban Missile Crisis...
